A large shed in the 3900 block of Rice Road in the Hillsboro area was destroyed in a July 6 fire.

The Goldman Fire Protection District received a call at 11:05 p.m. about the shed fire, and firefighters arrived at 11:15 p.m. and found it burned to the ground, Chief Curtis Peters said.

The 20-by-30-foot shed was made of timber and covered with metal, he added.

“We took the tin off of it and made sure everything was out,” he said. “There was nothing left of it, and nothing in it of value,” Peters said.

In fact, the woman who owned the shed said there was nothing at all inside it.

Peters said he did not know how the fire started, but “there was nothing left to investigate.”

Firefighters were on the scene about 40 minutes. Dunklin, Hillsboro, Mapaville and Antonia fire protection districts assisted with the call, he said.
