Flames

A fire that started in a House Springs home led to two brush fires on Thursday, Oct. 13, because of windy conditions, High Ridge Fire Protection District Chief John Barton said.

No injuries were reported from the fires, which started at a home in the 6100 block of Timber Ridge Drive. Barton said at least 50 percent of the home was destroyed by the fire, which is not considered suspicious.

He said Thursday was classified as a “red flag” day because weather conditions increased the risk of flames to spread.

High Ridge Fire was called about the home fire at 3:13 p.m. and arrived at the house at about 3:18 p.m. The house fire and nearby brush fires were under control at 4:07 p.m., Barton said.

He said a man who lived at the house was not home when the fire started.

Antonia, Eureka, Hillsboro, Goldman, Saline Valley, Cedar Hill, Rock Community fire protection districts assisted on the call, and Big River Ambulance District also responded to the home.
