A Festus woman told police a handgun she owned went missing while she was away on vacation last month. The incident occurred at a home in the 1000 block of Eagle Valley Drive, Police Chief Tim Lewis said.
“A lady walked into the station and reported a firearm stolen. She said she kept the handgun, a revolver, for protection,” Lewis said. “She went on vacation Aug. 9-Aug. 25. It looks like some of her family members had friends over during the time the gun went missing.”
Lewis estimated the value of the revolver at $400.
He said Sept. 3 that the gun had not been recovered and no arrests had been made. Anyone with information is urged to call Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
