Gunshots recently were fired near South Fourth and Henry streets in Festus, striking a home and a vehicle. No one was injured by the shots fired in the area, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.
The incident occurred about 12:10 a.m. March 5, he said.
“When officers arrived, they found a 2021 Chrysler Town & County minivan with a window shot out,” Lewis said. “Officers canvassed the area and at a residence in the 400 block of South Fourth, discovered numerous bullet holes through the front porch, wall and window, and the front door.
“We don’t know if (the shot that struck the minivan) was a ricochet.”
The people who lived in the house riddled with bullets said they didn’t know why they were targeted, Lewis reported.
“The residents of the house did not know who did it,” he added.
As of March 8, no arrests had been made and the investigation was continuing, Lewis said. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
