Three guns recently were stolen from a home in the 1500 block of Big Hollow Road in the Festus area, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Between 2 p.m. May 3 and 11 a.m. May 5, someone pried open a rear door to the home to get inside and then forced open a chain-locked door inside the home and stole the guns, the report said.
Two of the guns had been secured with zip ties in a case, and the ties had been cut. The third gun was taken out of a firearms box, according to the report.
The stolen guns included a Smith & Wesson .38 Special Model 18 Combat Masterpiece semiautomatic handgun, a Smith & Wesson .38 Special Model 15 Combat Masterpiece semi-automatic handgun and a High Standard Sentinel revolver. Altogether, they were valued at $1,900, the report said.
A deputy took a fingerprint from the gun case where two guns had been stored and entered it the print as evidence, according to the report.
As of today (May 18), the guns had not been recovered, and there were no suspects or arrests, said Lt. Gary Higginbotham of the Sheriff’s Office.
