The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has identified a person of interest who is suspected of stealing five guns and a rifle part from a man that the person helped move into a High Ridge apartment. The Sheriff’s Office did not provide additional information about the person of interest.

The alleged theft happened on June 1 when a man was helping another man move into an apartment in the 2100 block of Linnus Drive. The alleged victim said the man had brought a tote of guns into the apartment and would hide guns in his waistband to take them out of the home, the report said.

Along with the guns, a piece described as a rifle upper, which typically is the barrel, bolt carrier group and charging handle of a rifle, also was stolen, according to the report.

The Sheriff’s Office did not provide estimated values for the stolen items.

As of June 13, the person of interest had not been arrested, and the guns and gun part had not been recovered, spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the theft to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
