Two guns, two gold bars, cash, jewelry and other items recently were stolen from a home in the 14000 block of Easy Street in the De Soto area, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Between 11:40 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Sept. 13, someone stole the items, altogether valued at $17,400, the report said.

Stolen items included a Smith and Wesson AR-15 rifle; a Sig Sauer P229 handgun; two 10-ounce gold bars; a $10 gold piece; cash; a ring; a radio-controlled car; and several medications, according to the report.

The victims told deputies they let a friend stay with them for three days and then when they returned to their home on Sept. 13, after being gone for a while that day, they found the items missing, the report said.

As of Sept. 18, the stolen items had not been recovered, and there were no arrests, said Capt. Ron Arnhart of the Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
