Two guns and some tools were stolen from a Pevely garage Monday (July 13), but an ATV also stolen was recovered at a nearby vacant home, Pevely Police Chief Ron Weeks said.
The homeowner reported the break-in at 3:06 a.m., and the items were stolen from a detached garage in the 600 block of Apple in the Sims Meadows subdivision.
The thief broke in through a window and took a .22 caliber rifle valued at $175, as well as a single-shot .410 Riverside Arms shotgun worth $200. Miscellaneous tools and the ATV were taken.
The ATV was recovered from a garage in the 600 block of Riverview later Monday, when that homeowner, who was in the process of moving out, returned to the vacant home and learned it also had been broken into, but nothing was taken, according to Pevely Police.
However, the stolen ATV had been stashed in the garage.
Anyone with information is asked to call Pevely Police at 475-5301.
