Festus Police are investigating the theft of a gun from a pickup parked along the 800 block of Warne Street. The theft was reported Dec. 12, but the victim, a 27-year-old Festus man, said the gun probably was stolen a few weeks earlier, Chief Tim Lewis said.
“He noticed his 2011 Dodge Ram had been gone through. He noticed this on Nov. 20, but he did not notice the pistol stolen at that time. But he believed it had to have happened on Nov. 20,” Lewis said.
The victim said the pickup had been left unlocked, Lewis said.
As of Dec. 20, the pistol had not been recovered and no arrests had been made, Lewis said.
