A gun safe containing numerous firearms was stolen from a home in the 1500 block of Skyview Drive in the Arnold area. The burglary happened between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Feb. 1, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The victim told authorities he returned home from work and discovered the gun safe, which had been bolted to a wall, was missing. He said 11 guns, including rifles and shotguns, were inside the safe, along with a rifle sight and insurance papers. The estimated value of the stolen items was $6,630, the report said.
It looked like the culprit got into the house through a basement window that had been covered with plywood, according to the report.
Capt. Gary Higginbotham said Feb. 12 that none of the stolen items had been recovered, no suspects had been identified and no arrests had been made. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
