Eureka Police are looking for a gun reported stolen from a car parked outside the America’s Best Inn, 1725 West Fifth St., authorities reported.

A 64-year-old Catawissa man called police to the hotel at about noon Oct. 20. He said he had parked a 1992 Toyota Celica on the north side of the building at about 5 p.m. Oct. 19, and when he returned the next day a .40-caliber semiautomatic Hi Point was missing. The gun was valued at $110, the report said.

The victim said the gun was stolen from under clothing in a rear storage area of the car. There were no signs of forced entry into the vehicle, though the man said he believed the car was locked. A magazine and box of ammunition was not stolen from the car’s center console, according to the report.

As of Oct. 26, there were no suspects and the gun had not been recovered, Capt. David Wilson said. Anyone with information about the incident should call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
