Residents of a Fenton home escaped safely from a Jan. 16 kitchen fire that left their home uninhabitable.
At least two adults were in the home in the 80 block of Delores Drive when the fire started at about 5 p.m., High Ridge Fire Chief Mike Arnhart said.
They were cooking when grease ignited and fire quickly spread throughout the kitchen, he said.
The High Ridge Fire Protection District received the fire call at 5:05 p.m. and had equipment on the scene in about five minutes.
“Smoke was pouring out of the house” when firefighters arrived, Arnhart said.
He said the fire was under control within about 20 minutes.
“The fire was contained to the kitchen, but there was extensive smoke and heat damage throughout the house,” Arnhart said.
The single-story ranch is uninhabitable, but no one was injured in the blaze, he said.
The Fenton and Saline Valley fire protection districts assisted with the call.
