John Joseph Fozzy, 34, of Catawissa was sentenced to 15 years in prison for a felony drug charge in Jefferson County, which he will serve consecutively with a 12-year prison term he previously was sentenced to for multiple felonies, for a total of 27 years in prison, according to court records.

In November 2016, Fozzy was found with 6.62 grams of methamphetamine in the 200 block of Fifth Street in De Soto, a probable-cause statement said.

He pleaded guilty to the class C felony of possession of a controlled substance, and on March 19, Jefferson County Div. 5 Circuit Judge Victor J. Melenbrink sentenced Fozzy to 15 years in prison, to be served consecutively with his previous sentences, the report said.

Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Douglas S. Pribble handled the case.

Fozzy, who also goes by the name Joseph John, already was serving 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to eight felonies that occurred between 2002 and 2008 in either St. Louis County or Franklin County, according to the report.

He was sentenced to a 12-year term for robbery, to one seven-year term for stealing a motor vehicle, to two five-year terms for felony stealing, to one five-year term for burglary, to one five-year term for tampering with a motor vehicle, to a four-year term for a drug charge, and to a three-year term for armed criminal action. However, all those prison terms are to be served concurrently, or at the same time, court papers indicate.

The 15-year term Fozzy was sentenced to in March, however, is to be served consecutively to the 12 years. He currently is in the Northeast Correctional Center in Bowling Green.
