Festus Police are seeking four suspects who allegedly broke into the main building at Lucas-Smith Chrysler Center early Jan. 20 and stole sets of keys and then took off in four vehicles from the sales lot.
Police Chief Doug Wendel said the theft at the auto sales business, 1600 Parkway West, was reported to police at about 7 a.m., although it had occurred hours earlier.
“According to the business owner, at about 2:25 a.m., four suspects broke the door to the building, rummaged through desks and stole a bunch of keys, then stole four cars,” Wendel said.
He said the stolen vehicles included two 2023 Dodge Durango SUVs, a 2023 Dodge Challenger and a 2020 Dodge Challenger. He said the total value of the vehicles was $202,000.
Wendel said video surveillance footage shows the four suspects, but not clearly enough to help identify them.
“(Officers) went in to see the camera footage, but the suspects did not leave anything to identify them,” he said.
As of today, Jan. 24, no suspects had been found and two of the vehicles remained missing. The other two vehicles were found in St. Louis and St. Louis County.
“Both Dodge Durangos were recovered, one in the city of St. Louis and one in north St. Louis County,” Wendel said. “One of the Durangos had damage to its rear section. The other one was OK.”
