A Festus woman and three men, two from Imperial and the other from Dexter, were arrested in Arnold following a traffic stop at Rosedale Drive and Richardson Road. At about 6:45 p.m. Sept. 11, an Arnold Police officer pulled over the vehicle they were in, a 1993 Ford Explorer, because the license plates on it were for a trailer, Arnold Police reported.

A 56-year-old Imperial man was driving the SUV, and a 36-year-old Festus woman, a 36-year-old Imperial man and 33-year-old Dexter man were passengers in the vehicle. The woman, who was wanted in Jefferson County on outstanding warrants, allegedly tried to flee when the SUV was stopped, the report said.

The officer pursued the woman, and the 36-year-old man allegedly grabbed the officer’s shoulder, trying to help the woman escape. However, the officer was able to break away from the man and apprehend the woman, who was wanted on warrants for tampering with a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, giving a false police report and assault, Arnold Police Lt. Clinton Wooldridge said.

The woman and three men were arrested and transported to the Police Station where they were booked. The woman was held for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and the three men were released pending application for warrants, Wooldridge said.

Arnold Police will seek charges against the woman for resisting arrest by flight, and charges will be sought against the 56-year-old man for failure to register a motor vehicle, not having proof of insurance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Wooldridge said.

He said Arnold Police will seek charges against the 36-year-old man for assaulting a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and interfering with an arrest, and charges will be sought against the Dexter man for failure to comply because he allegedly refused to get out of the SUV when the officer told him to.
