A fire damaged four apartments in the 600 block of Palisades Drive in Pacific on Sunday (July 5), displacing some people from their homes, said Chief Steve Sagehorn of the Pacific Fire Protection District.
He said two of the four damaged apartments are not habitable. The Red Cross was called to help the residents who lived there.
Sagehorn said Pacific Fire got a call at 5:26 a.m. about the fire, and crews arrived within four minutes.
All the residents were out of the building when firefighters arrived. However, firefighters rescued two cats from the building, Sagehorn said.
He said the fire, which started outside the apartment building, is under investigation, but it appears accidental.
Sagehorn said the fire was under control by 6 a.m. and crews stayed on the scene until about 7:30 a.m.
The Eureka, Boles and Metro West fire protection districts and the Meramec Ambulance District helped with the call, he said.
