Windows were smashed in four cars parked outside a fitness center and two nearby bars in Arnold. Altogether, the damage to the four cars was estimated at $1,400, and about $230 worth of cash and items were stolen from two of the vehicles, Arnold Police reported.
The cars were broken into between about midnight and 1:35 a.m. April 9. Two cars were parked outside of Club Fitness, 215 Arnold Crossroads Center; one was parked outside of Hotshots Sports Bar and Grill, 131 Arnold Crossroads Center; and one was parked outside Dylan’s Sports Pub and Grill, 675 Jeffco Blvd., the report said.
The first victim, a 24-year-old Festus man, called police at about 1:10 a.m. after discovering the rear passenger-side window was broken out of his 2014 Hyundai Elantra parked outside Hotshots. He told police his mother’s purse was missing from the car, according to the report.
The purse, which belongs to a 46-year-old Colorado Springs, Colo., woman, was found in the parking lot outside Club Fitness, and $150 was missing from the purse. The cost to fix the Elantra’s window was estimated at about $200, the report said.
Shortly after responding to Hotshots, a 32-year-old Arnold man called police to Club Fitness, which is in the same shopping complex as the bar. The man said he parked his 2014 Chrysler 300 outside the fitness center at about 12:30 a.m., and when he returned to his car at about 1:15 a.m., the rear driver-side window was shattered. The damage to that car was estimated at $300, according to the report.
At about 1:30 a.m., a 23-year-old Saint Clair woman called police to Dylan’s, when she discovered the rear passenger-side window of her 2015 Dodge Dart had been shattered. She told police two Nike hooded sweatshirts and a half a carton of cigarettes were missing from the car. The cost to repair the window was estimated at about $400, and the sweatshirts and cigarettes were valued at about $80, the report said.
Police were called back to Club Fitness at 1:35 a.m. when a 22-year-old Belleville, Ill., man discovered the rear driver-side window was broken on his 2019 Nissan Altima. No items were stolen from the car. The cost to repair the Altima’s window was estimated at $500, police reported.
As of April 13, none of the missing items had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said. He asks anyone with information about the incidents to call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
