Darnell E. Williams, 30, formerly of Festus, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison following felony drug and stealing charges and probation violations, according to court documents.

In August 2013, a detective went with a search warrant to an apartment on Timberwyck Street in Festus, and Williams grabbed a security box and jumped out of a second-floor window. The box broke open and bags of marijuana and other drugs spilled out, the probable-cause statement said.

Inside the apartment, police found a bottle of the sleep aid Dormin and a bottle of quinine, which are often used to “cut” heroin, as well as clear plastic bags, a digital scale, a coffee grinder, several cell phones and cash, the report said.

During questioning, Williams, a prior offender, admitted that all the items belonged to him.

He pleaded guilty to possession of heroin with the intent to deliver it and was sentenced Nov. 10, 2014, by Jefferson County Div. 6 Circuit Judge Troy Cardona to 15 years.

Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Trisha C. Stefanski handled the case.

The 15-year term is to be served concurrent, or at the same time, with a four-year term Williams got for a felony drug charge tied to a September 2009 incident in Jefferson County, court papers show.

Williams may be released early if he successfully completes a two-year treatment program.

Williams also was previously convicted of felony stealing stemming from a September 2005 incident in Jefferson County and got probation, according to court records.

He currently is in the Western Missouri Correctional Center in Cameron.
