Flames

A home in the 300 block of East Kingston Street in De Soto recently was destroyed by fire, De Soto Fire Department Chief James Maupin said.

He said De Soto Fire got a call at about 8 p.m. Nov. 2 that did not indicate a house was on fire but directed firefighters to check for a possible one in the area where the home is located. It took about seven minutes for firefighters to locate the house, which was fully involved in flames.

Maupin said the fire was under control at about 8:30 p.m. after firefighters entered the house to put out additional hot spots.

He said a man and his pets who live at the house were not home when the fire started, but the man did arrive at the home while the fire was being extinguished.

Maupin said the Red Cross was called to help the man.

On Nov. 3, Maupin said the fire did not appear suspicious, but the cause of the fire was still being investigated.

The De Soto Rural, Hematite and Hillsboro fire protection districts helped with the call, and Valle Ambulance District also responded.
