A fire heavily damaged a garage in the 5400 block of PawPaw Lane off Peter Moore Lane west of De Soto on April 12. No one was injured, De Soto Rural Fire Chief Tom Fitzgerald said.
He said firefighters were called at 2:46 a.m. to the 40-by-60-foot garage and found the fire had damaged the garage and destroyed a dump truck, pickup and minivan that were inside.
Fitzgerald said the cause of the fire was not suspicious but was undetermined as of April 15.
The Hillsboro, Hematite and Jefferson R-7 fire protection districts and the De Soto Fire Department assisted with the fire. The Mapaville, St. Clair and Big River fire protection districts handled the district’s other calls. The Valle Ambulance District also responded to the scene
