Festus Police patch

A Festus woman has accused a male friend of stealing a gun from her car after the two had been at a gun range shooting. The alleged theft happened June 11, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis reported.

“At about 8:45 p.m., the victim came into the (Festus Police) Station. She’s a 27-year-old Festus woman,” he said. “She reported she’d been out shooting earlier in the day with the suspect, a man, and dropped him off at the Menkhus Apartments (in the 700 block of North Fifth Street). She went inside. When she came out, the gun was gone.”

Lewis said the car was unlocked and the report did not have a description of the car.

He said June 12 that the suspect, a 25-year-Festus resident, had not been arrested, but the incident “remains under investigation.”
