Festus Police patch

Festus Police are investigating the theft of a vehicle and multiple vehicle break-ins reported today, Sept. 18.

“We had several calls from four different subdivisions,” Chief Doug Wendel said this morning. “They’re all on the west side of the city.”

“There was a 2024 Ford Explorer stolen from a home in the 1800 block of Champion Lane,” Wendel said. “It was reported at 6 a.m.

“The other reports are vehicle break-ins. One had a gun stolen from it. There were reports of other break-ins, about six.”

He said he has received partial reports from officers as of this morning.

“All of the vehicles were unlocked,” he said.

Officers are reviewing videos from homes where the incidents occurred, he said.

“Videos showed a couple of people involved,” Wendel said. “There is a video showing two different cars and the guys were checking door handles.”

He said the videos show a black SUV and a white or silver passenger car involved in the incidents.

The investigation is continuing, he said.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
