A Festus teenager was hurt in a fireworks-related accident on Fourth of July. The accident happened about 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, said Curt Stueve, administrator for the Joachim-Plattin Ambulance District, which responded to the scene of the accident.
The 16-year-old somehow was hurt with a firework, suffering “severe trauma to his left hand,” Stueve said.
Bystanders had “applied a tourniquet” on the young man before paramedics arrived. The teen was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur.
