A 20-year-old Festus man has been arrested for suspicion of stealing two pistols from a home in the 500 block of North Mill Street in Festus, says Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis.
The suspect, who was arrested Oct. 16, the day after the guns were reported stolen, is related to the victim, a 59-year-old man, Lewis said.
“On Oct. 15, we received a report at 9:30 a.m. of firearms stolen from (the victim’s Festus home) and the victim believed a family member may have taken them,” Lewis said. “The next morning, during traffic stop around 9 a.m. at Ruth Avenue and Horine Road, the pistols were recovered and the suspect was taken into custody.”
The suspect was released pending application for warrants, Lewis said.
