cash stolen

Festus Police arrested an employee of the Taco Bell restaurant, 800 Lee Ave., Monday night (July 31) after a store manager called authorities to say he saw her steal money from a cash register.

When officers arrived to interview the suspect at around 10:30 p.m. they allegedly not only found the stolen cash on her, but drug paraphernalia as well, Chief Tim Lewis reported.

The suspect was processed and released pending application for warrants, he said.

“We responded to the counter and found the money on her,” Lewis said. “The manager saw her take it, then did a count of the register. The money found on her matched the amount that the register was short. We also found drug paraphernalia.”

He said while the investigation is ongoing, he would not release the amount of money taken.
