A 21-year-old Lexington, Tenn., man wanted there in connection with a shooting was arrested in Festus this afternoon (Aug. 11), said Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis.
Festus Police got a call early this morning from Lexington, Tenn., police who suspected the man was at a Festus-area apartment complex, Lewis said.
He said Festus Police patrolled the area and found the suspect's vehicle at apartments in the 1500 block of Leisure Place.
“We set up surveillance there, and when he came out and got in the car, we did a traffic stop at Collins Drive and Hwy. A and got him,” Lewis said.
The suspect was arrested about 12:30 p.m. without incident, Lewis added.
The man was booked and signed a waiver of extradition, and Lexington Police were headed to Festus to pick up the suspect, Lewis said this afternoon.
Lewis said he didn’t have any information about the shooting in Lexington, Tenn., or why the suspect was in Festus.
Lexington Police didn’t return a call for comment today.
