Festus Police patch

Festus Police are investigating the recent theft of a pickup from the 200 block of North Second Street. The truck owner saw the theft happening on his surveillance monitor, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.

He said the incident occurred about 12:25 a.m. Dec. 10.

“The victim, a 51-year-old man, was sleeping in his bedroom,” Lewis said. “He looked at his surveillance monitor and saw a dark sedan pull up next to his 1996 Ford Ranger. The sedan drove off and someone was in the Ranger. He drove off in the Ranger.”

The victim said the doors to the vehicle were locked and no keys were left inside it, so it is not known how the thieves gained entry to the vehicle, Lewis said.

“A little later (in the morning), the vehicle was spotted by Arnold Police driving on I-55 in Arnold,” Lewis said. “They did not give pursuit.”

As of Dec. 13, the pickup had not been recovered and no arrests had been made, he said. Anyone with information about the theft is urged to call Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
