Someone recently removed a chain and lock from the front gate of Festus-area business and stole approximately $14,015 in items. The incident occurred between 6:15 p.m. July 23 and 7 a.m. July 24 at Hilltop Equipment, 3025 Hwy. 67, south of Festus, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Items that were stolen or damaged included a pull-behind air compressor, a padlock and a chain. Sgt. Matthew Moore said Aug. 3 that none of the items had been recovered and there had been no arrests.
