A 33-year-old Fenton woman discovered she was pregnant while being treated at an area hospital following a physical altercation with an Arnold Police officer. The woman was wanted for alleged parole violations, police reported.
At about 1:30 p.m. March 19, the officer saw a 2013 Toyota Camry parked outside the Quality Inn and Suites, 3610 W. Outer Road, and discovered the owner was wanted for violating the terms of her parole. When the officer approached the car, the woman was sitting in the driver’s seat with the door open, the report said.
The officer attempted to arrest her, but she allegedly struggled with the officer and tried to get back into the car. The officer pulled the woman out of the car and onto the ground, according to the report.
During the struggle, the woman allegedly offered the officer money to let her go. A second officer arrived, and the woman was handcuffed and taken into custody, the report said.
No injuries were reported for the officer or the woman, but the woman was taken to an area hospital to make sure she was fit for confinement. At the hospital, the woman learned she was pregnant, which she said she did not know. After being evaluated, the woman was transported to the Jefferson County Jail, according to the report.
Arnold Police will seek charges against the woman for felony resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree assault and bribery of a public servant, Cpl. Brett Ackermann said.
