The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 28-year-old Fenton woman for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after she drove an SUV off the road and ran over a mailbox just northwest of Arnold, authorities reported.

A deputy at about 5 p.m. May 23 saw a 2007 Buick Rendezvous partially off the road in the 900 block of Missouri State Road. When the deputy approached the SUV, he saw the driver had run over a mailbox and appeared to be stuck, the report said.

The woman was not injured, but the deputy reported she appeared to be intoxicated. The woman thought she was in St. Louis County at the time of the accident, according to the report.

The woman allegedly failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. She was transported to the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, where she was booked and released to a sober driver, the report said.

She was issued a summons to appear in Jefferson County Municipal Court for alleged DWI, Capt. Matt Moore said.
