Michael Trueman, 49, who lives in the St. Louis County portion of Fenton, has been charged with five felonies after allegedly stabbing a man and assaulting three others, including a deputy, on Tuesday afternoon (May 10) at the Pleasantview Motel, 4301 Jeffco Blvd., just south of Arnold, authorities report.
At 2:50 p.m., the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office got a call about a disturbance at the motel, Maj. Ralph Brown said.
He said Trueman unlawfully entered someone’s room at the motel and assaulted a 21-year-old man who was staying there.
Trueman allegedly stabbed the victim with a knife several times in the head before the victim ran away, Brown said.
Then, Trueman allegedly got into his vehicle and tried to hit the victim with it, but missed and struck the motel instead, damaging it, Brown said.
He said about 15 people intervened during the fight, and Trueman assaulted two of them, the motel manager – a 52-year-old man who was “nicked in the throat” with the knife – and a 34-year-old man who was hit in the head.
When a deputy arrived and tried to arrest Trueman, he resisted and struck the deputy twice, Brown said.
“The suspect (Trueman) was very agitated and out of control,” Brown said.
He said the 21-year-old victim was taken to an area hospital and treated and released.
The other victims, including the deputy, weren’t seriously hurt, Brown said.
Trueman was injured during the assault and the arrest and was taken to an area hospital for treatment, Brown said.
Today (May 11), the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office charged Trueman with first-degree burglary and two counts of first-degree assault, all class B felonies, and second-degree assault and assault of a law enforcement officer, both class C felonies.
Each of the class B felonies is punishable by five to 15 years in prison, and each of the class C felonies carries a maximum penalty of seven years in prison.
Trueman was being held this evening in the Jefferson County Jail on a $15,000 cash bond.
