A 47-year-old Fenton man was arrested for alleged possession of heroin during a traffic stop in Arnold. The man was pulled over at about 2:40 p.m. Feb. 4 on Jeffco Boulevard, Arnold Police reported.
An officer reportedly saw the man, who was driving a 1999 Chevrolet S-10 south on Jeffco, fail to signal while making a lane change. The officer stopped the pickup near Jennemann Lane and allegedly saw the driver moving around a lot in the vehicle, which looked suspicious, the report said.
When the officer asked the driver to get out of the pickup, a plastic bag on the driver’s lap fell out. The bag allegedly was filled with capsules that contained a white powdery substance believed to be heroin, according to the report.
The man already was wanted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for failure to pay child support. The man was arrested and taken to the Arnold Police Station, where he was booked and held for the Sheriff’s Office, the report said.
Depending on the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, Capt. Rich Shular said.
