A fire that destroyed a Fenton-area mobile home on Saturday night (Aug. 29) is under investigation.
The mobile home, in the 10 block of Bay Circle Drive, had “no utilities – no electricity and no gas – to the home when it caught fire,” said Fire Chief Mike Arnhart of the High Ridge Fire Protection District.
“It is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office,” he said. “Without utilities all indications are that the fire was incendiary.”
“Law enforcement was there earlier (that day) and the electric was disconnected,” Arnhart said.
The district received the call at 8:15 p.m. and firefighters were on the scene within five minutes, he said.
“When we arrived, the rear quarter of the trailer was involved and fire was coming out the rear door and rear window,” Arnhart said.
Firefighters from the Fenton Fire Protection District helped extinguish the fire.
The mobile home was a total loss, Arnhart said.
