Robyn Lynn Evans, 37, of Imperial has been sentenced to 28 years in prison after pleading guilty to two felony assault charges and numerous felony and misdemeanor drug charges, according to court records.
In June 2016, Evans, who previously lived in Festus, was involved in a traffic accident on Hwy. 61-67 north of Koch Valley Road in Barnhart, where she was driving on the wrong side of the road and collided with another vehicle, causing injuries to the driver and a passenger in the vehicle she hit. Evans appeared intoxicated when authorities arrived at the scene, and after she failed field sobriety tests, she was arrested for DWI, the probable-cause statement said.
The accident was one of at least six times Evans ran afoul of the law in 2016.
Several months earlier, in January 2016, Festus Police went to a residence in the 1000 block of Ann Street after a woman reported that Evans and a man were using illegal drugs in the home. When police arrived, Evans and the man were found in a bedroom with a syringe, fentanyl and methamphetamine, a probable-cause statement said.
In August 2016, Herculaneum Police were called to the Cracker Barrel restaurant, 1193 Scenic Drive, to investigate an attempted shoplifting and found with white capsules that turned out to be buprenorphine, a controlled substance, according to a probable-cause statement.
Two months later, in October 2016, Festus Police were called to the residence on Ann Street again about a possible disturbance and found Evans in the rear seat of a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country with drug paraphernalia, hydrocodone and marijuana, another probable-cause statement said.
In November 2016, De Soto Police were called to Jefferson Square and found Evans with a syringe and 60 blue pills that turned out to be alprazolam, according to a probable-cause statement.
The previous year, in June 2015, Arnold Police were called to the Circle K at 2001 Richardson Road because of a suspicious person and officers found Evans there with a orange pill that tested positive for amphetamine, and a white pill, which tested positive for hydrocodone, a probable-cause statement said.
Evans pleaded guilty to two counts of felony second-degree assault while operating a vehicle while intoxicated, six counts of felony possession of a controlled substance, one count of misdemeanor possession of marijuana and three counts of misdemeanor unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. On April 18, Jefferson County Div. 6 Circuit Judge Troy A. Cardona sentenced Evans to two seven-year prison sentences for the assault charges, which are to be served consecutively for a total of 14 years. Cardona also sentenced Evans to seven years for each of the six felony drug charges with five of those sentences to be served concurrently, or at the same time, and the other seven-year sentence to be served consecutively, bringing that total to 14 years. In addition, the first 14 years is to be served consecutive to the second 14 years, for a total sentence of 28 years. She also was sentenced to four 90-day terms in jail to be served concurrently with the rest of the sentences, according to court documents.
Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Thomas E. Hollingsworth handled the assault case, and assistant prosecuting attorney Jacob T. Costello handled the drug cases.
