A 61-year-old Eureka woman lost her wedding ring after she took it off to try on jewelry at Walmart, 131 Eureka Towne Center Drive, and accidentally left it on the jewelry counter before another woman allegedly stole it. The ring was valued at $1,645, Eureka Police reported.
The victim told police she left her wedding ring on the jewelry counter at about 2 p.m. Jan. 20 and at about 3:30 p.m. realized she had left it behind, but when she went back to get the ring, it was gone, the report said.
The victim told the store manager what had happened, and after the manager reviewed surveillance video, she said it showed a woman find the ring on the counter and allegedly conceal it and walk away, according to the report.
As of Feb. 1, the ring had not been recovered, and the suspect had not been identified, Lt. Michael Werges said. Anyone with information about the incident should call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
