A 59-year-old Eureka woman was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated after she was seen driving a 2011 Honda in the parking lot at Central Baptist Church, 601 N. Central Ave. Officers were called to the area for a welfare check, Eureka Police reported.
At about 10:30 p.m. May 9, an officer saw the Honda driving north on North Virginia Street before pulling into the church’s parking lot. The woman got out of the vehicle and allegedly stumbled while walking down the hill away from the church, the report said.
When an officer contacted the woman, she allegedly appeared intoxicated. She told police she was searching for a man who the welfare check call was made for and that she was coming from “the bar,” according to the report.
The woman failed field sobriety tests and was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where she was booked and released to a sober driver, the report said.
The woman was issued a summons to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for alleged DWI, Capt. Michael Werges said.
