Eureka Police patch

Two 15-year-old Eureka boys were arrested for allegedly vandalizing a coating rollers supply business and the walls of the Hwy. 109 overpass on South Central Avenue. The teens were found with black spray paint that was similar to the paint found inside the company’s building and on the overpass walls, Eureka Police reported.

The teenagers were arrested at about 11 p.m. Oct. 1 after an officer was called to the South Central Avenue overpass because of graffiti was seen on the walls. The officer located the two teens, and they allegedly had cans of black spray paint and were wearing gloves, the report said.

The teenagers were connected to the burglary and property damage at Urethan Roller Specialists, 100 S. Central Ave., when the company’s owner contacted police at about 9 a.m. Oct. 2. He told investigators someone had used black spray paint inside his building to write the words “Don’t leave unlocked” and “You know us,” according to the report.

A freezer in the building’s breakroom also had black paint on it, and it appeared chocolate milk had been spilled on the floor. Also, a Dodge Ram 1500, which was left unlocked outside the business, had black paint on a window and papers were thrown about in the pickup’s cab, the report said.

The two men were allegedly seen in surveillance video at about 10:30 p.m. Oct. 1 climbing a fence to get to the Urethan Roller Specialists. They entered the building through an unlocked garage door, according to the report.

The two people in the surveillance video were wearing similar clothes to the teenagers the officer arrested near the South Central Avenue overpass, the report said.

The teenagers were turned over to juvenile authorities, Capt. Michael Werges said.
