Eureka Police patch

Eureka Police suspect two St. Louis juveniles are connected to the theft of an SUV from a Eureka woman’s garage as well as the use of her credit card at a St. Louis gas station. The juveniles allegedly were found with the woman’s purse when they were arrested by St. Louis Police in a different stolen car, Eureka Police reported.

The 31-year-old Eureka woman’s 2018 Acura MDX was stolen from an open garage at her home in the 800 block of Boulder Crest Court. The woman said she parked the SUV at about 4:30 p.m. April 26 and discovered it was missing at about 5 a.m. April 27, the report said.

The woman said the MDX was unlocked with the keys inside it, and she had left her purse in the SUV, according to the report.

On April 27, the woman was alerted that her credit card had been used at least three times at the Exxon Mobile gas station, 6020 North Broadway, in St. Louis. She said charges were made to the card for $85.54, $134.23 and $62.45, Eureka Police reported.

Surveillance video allegedly showed a man get out of the stolen MDX and use the woman’s credit card at a gas pump. The man then appeared to take cash payments from other people and use the card at gas pumps to pay for gas. It appeared the man did that same thing about six times, the report said.

St. Louis Police found the woman’s purse and driver’s license in a 2007 BMW 330i that was stopped on April 28 by St. Louis Police, who reported that two juveniles were inside the car when it was stopped, according to the report.

The MDX stolen in Eureka was recovered on May 1 in St. Louis. It had a flat tire, and its rear-view mirror, exterior radio antenna and license plates were found inside the SUV, the report said.

As of May 5, the case was still under investigation, and it was not clear how the juveniles came into possession of the woman’s purse and driver’s license, Lt. Michael Werges said.
