A 44-year-old Eureka man convicted of at least two driving while intoxicated charges was arrested for another alleged DWI after he was found sleeping in pickup in the drive thru of the White Castle restaurant, 78 Hilltop Village Center Drive, Eureka Police reported.
Officers were called just before midnight on Dec. 13 because a 2024 Dodge Ram was stopped in the drive thru. The man driving the pickup appeared to be asleep, the report said.
The pickup was running when the officer arrived, and he had to wake up the driver. The man in the Ram allegedly failed field sobriety tests and was arrested, according to the report.
He was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released to a sober driver. Investigators learned the man had been convicted of DWI in Missouri and out of the state, the report said.
Eureka Police will seek a charge against the man through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for DWI as a persistent offender, Capt. Michael Werges said.
