Eureka Police are investigating the theft of two prescribed medications from the Walgreens pharmacy, 250 E. Fourth St. A 35-year-old Pacific woman said a 26-year-old Gray Summit woman picked up the medications without permission, police reported.

Officers were called to the pharmacy just before noon on Jan. 9. The victim said she was there to pick up 30 capsules of Venlafaxine, an antidepressant, and 90 tablets of Alprazolam, which treats anxiety disorders, that were prescribed to her, the report said.

The victim told police she pays $50 for the medication, according to the report.

However, the pharmacy staff said the medications were picked up by the other woman at about 2:10 p.m. Jan. 2. The woman who was there to pick up her medication, identified the woman who allegedly picked up the drugs, after watching surveillance video, the report said.

The woman allegedly seen in the surveillance video had a chest tattoo that is similar to a friend of the victim, according to the report.

As of Jan. 27, the prescription drugs had not been recovered, and the woman seen in the surveillance video had not been located or arrested, Capt. Michael Werges said.
