A 54-year-old Eureka man was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated following an accident on Forest Hill Drive. The man reportedly drove a pickup into the side of an RV that was parked in a driveway, Eureka Police reported.

An officer was called at about 5:35 p.m. Sept. 11 after a 2000 Dodge Dakota ran into the RV. The pickup’s airbags were deployed, the report said.

The man told the officer he drove into the RV after the brakes failed on the pickup. He also allegedly said he drank a few beers before the accident, according to the report.

The man was not wearing shoes and allegedly appeared to be intoxicated. He allegedly told the officer he was driving to a gas station and was going to drive back home after getting gas, and that was the reason he was not wearing shoes, the report said.

He was arrested and then transported to an area hospital for evaluation, and he agreed to have his blood tested for alcohol, Eureka Police reported.

Depending on the result of the blood analysis, the man may be issued a summons to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for alleged DWI, Capt. Michael Werges said.
