Eureka Police arrested a 44-year-old Manchester man and 35-year-old Ellisville man for alleged drug possession. The officers arrested the men after stopping a 2003 Toyota Celica they were traveling in because the car had two different license plates, police reported.
The officers saw the car at about 2:40 p.m. Feb. 26 going east on Fifth Street. They stopped the car near the intersection of Hwy. 109 and Elk Run Drive, the report said.
The Manchester man was driving the Celica, and officers learned the man’s driver’s license had been revoked. The officers also learned the Ellisville man was wanted by the Ellisville Police on a warrant, according to the report.
The two men were arrested. They told the officers that the Celica belonged to a friend, the report said.
When officers searched the car, they allegedly found two boxes of unused syringes and a container that had suspected hydrocodone and fentanyl pills. Both men said they did not know the pills were in the car, and they said the syringes were for their father, who they said is a diabetic, according to the report.
Officers contacted the men’s father, and he allegedly said he was not a diabetic, the report said.
The men were taken to the Eureka Police Station, where they were booked, according to the report.
The Manchester man was issued summons to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for allegedly driving with a revoked license and using license plates issued to another person. He was then released pending a warrant for additional charges, the report said.
The Ellisville man was released after posting bond, according to the report.
Depending on results of the drug analysis, Eureka Police will seek charges against each of the men through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, Lt. Brett Grittini said.
