A 72-year-old Pacific man, who has previously been convicted for driving while intoxicated, was arrested for suspicion of DWI in Eureka. The man allegedly was driving a car with its high beams on and failed to maintain a single lane on southbound Hwy. 109, police reported.
An officer at about 12:45 a.m. Nov. 27 stopped a 2014 Volkswagen Passat on the highway near East Fourth Street. The man allegedly told the officer that he had been drinking at a home in Ballwin, the report said.
The man allegedly failed field sobriety tests and registered a .149 percent blood-alcohol content, Eureka Police reported. In Missouri, .08 percent is the legal limit.
The officer learned the man had been convicted at least two times from DWI. The man was arrested and taken to the police station, where he was booked and released to a sober driver, according to the report.
Eureka Police will seek a charge against the man through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for DWI as a persistent offender, Lt. Brett Grittini said. He also said the man was issued a summons to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for improper lane use.
