A 57-year-old Pacific man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated following a two-vehicle accident at Six Flags Road and I-44 in Eureka. The man allegedly registered a blood-alcohol content nearly twice the legal limit, Eureka Police reported.
No one was injured in the accident, which happened at about 6 p.m. Jan. 6, the report said.
The man, who was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, said he was stopped at a red light on the I-44 exit behind a pickup that was hauling a trailer. He said the light turned green and he proceeded into the intersection, but the person in front of him stopped, and the Silverado struck the trailer, according to the report.
Eureka Police did not report any damage to the trailer, and the Silverado had minor damage.
The man who was driving the Silverado appeared intoxicated, and when an officer asked him if he had been drinking, the man said no but added that he had taken medication earlier in the day, the report said.
The man failed field sobriety tests and was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he allegedly registered a .153 percent blood-alcohol content, the report said. In Missouri, .08 percent is the legal limit.
The man was booked and issued summonses to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for an alleged DWI, driving without insurance and following another vehicle too closely, Lt. Michael Werges said.
