A 44-year-old O’Fallon man was arrested in Eureka for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after he reportedly was seen weaving between lanes on westbound I-44. He allegedly registered nearly four times the legal blood-alcohol level, Eureka Police reported.
An officer was flagged down by a driver at about 10:50 a.m. July 15 on I-44 near the Hwy. 109 exit and was told someone in a 2007 Ford Fusion was driving erratically on the interstate. The Fusion passed the officer a short time later, and the officer pulled over the car, the report said.
The driver appeared disoriented and told the officer he didn’t know where he was and that he had drunk a fifth of vodka. The officer arrested the man and took him to the Police Station, where he allegedly registered a .288 percent blood-alcohol content, the report said. In Missouri, .08 percent is the legal limit.
The man was released to a sober driver, and he was issued summonses to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for alleged DWI and improper lane use, Lt. Michael Tapp said.
