Eureka Police patch

A 46-year-old Eureka man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a bar manager and kept arguing outside the bar after police ordered him to stop. The incident happened Feb. 3 at Poor Richard’s Restaurant, 108 Hilltop Village Center Drive, Eureka Police reported.

The bar manager called Eureka Police at 1:13 a.m. about the man’s behavior. The manager said that after he announced the last call, the suspect allegedly reached over the counter, grabbed him and threatened him if he didn’t pour the man one more drink, the report said.

The manager said he kicked out the suspect and his friends. However, the suspect allegedly returned and started to argue with other costumers, according to the report.

When officers arrived, the suspect was outside the bar allegedly arguing with people. The police ordered the man to stop, but he allegedly didn’t and at one point, tried to push his way past the officers to get to the person he was arguing with, the report said.

The suspect was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was held until he was sober and then released. Eureka Police will seek charges against the man through the Eureka Municipal Court for third-degree assault and failure to obey a lawful order, Capt. David Wilson said.
