A fire caused minor damage to a home in the 5100 block of Hwy. H west of De Soto on Christmas morning, Dec. 25. No injuries were reported, De Soto Rural Fire Chief Tom Fitzgerald said.
He said the De Soto Rural Fire Protection District got a call at 11:46 a.m. about the small fire in one of the home’s basement walls, adding that the fire was due to an electrical outlet shorting out.
“It smoked up the house quite a bit,” Fitzgerald said. “We had to tear out a 3-foot section of wall and insulation.”
Firefighters were on the scene for about an hour.
