Kevin Douglas Eckstein, 30, of Imperial recently was sentenced to 10 years in prison following felony drug and burglary charges, court records show.

On Jan. 8, 2014, Eckstein unlawfully entered a home in the 4400 block of Hazel Drive in Imperial and stole numerous items and then ran away when Jefferson County deputies arrived. After a short chase, Eckstein was apprehended and found with a bag of marijuana and a smoking pipe, the probable-cause statement said.

Then, after Eckstein was taken to the Jefferson County Jail, he was searched and found with methamphetamine, the report said.

Eckstein pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and second-degree burglary and on May 18, Jefferson County Div. 3 Circuit Judge Nathan Stewart sentenced him to 10 years for the meth possession charge and seven years for the burglary charge.

However, the terms are to be served concurrent, or at the same time. In addition, Eckstein may be released early if he successfully completes a two-year treatment program, according to the report.

Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Douglas S. Pribble handled the case.

The 10- and seven-year terms also will be served concurrent to three other prison sentences he previously received.

In April 2014, Eckstein was sentenced to two four-year terms – one for resisting arrest and the other for driving with a revoked license – stemming from a January 2013 incident in Jefferson County.

Eckstein also was sentenced in June 2012 to seven years for a felony drug charge tied to a November 2009 incident in Jefferson County, court documents indicate.

He previously was convicted on two misdemeanor charges for driving while intoxicated for two incidents in 2008 in Jefferson County and received jail time and probation.

In addition, Eckstein served jail time for a felony drug charge connected to a December 2012 incident in St. Louis County.
