Felicia Marler, 38, of De Soto was found dead Wednesday morning (Oct. 10) in the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, where she was being held on numerous outstanding warrants, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Marler was found dead about 11 a.m., when corrections staff went to her cell to get her so she could be transferred to St. Louis County, where she was wanted, the report said.
“Upon locating (Marler) unresponsive in her bed, corrections officers immediately attempted CPR and notified emergency medical services,” according to the report. “Within the Sheriff’s Office Jail, a nurse also attempted CPR, but was unsuccessful in resuscitating the inmate.”
The Sheriff’s Office called for detectives and crime scene unit officers to investigate, the report said.
Initial findings show “no signs of foul play and no signs of violence to the deceased,” according to the report.
The investigation will continue, and a toxicology report must be completed before a cause of death is determined, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
Marler had been held in the jail since Tuesday (Oct. 9), when the Sheriff’s Office arrested her during a traffic stop at I-55 and Hwy. 67 after learning she was wanted on “numerous warrants from several different agencies,” the report said.
When Marler was first taken to the jail, she did not mention any medical issues or health concerns, according to the report.
Capt. Gary Higginbotham said Marler was wanted on warrants for traffic violations.
