The De Soto Police Department arrested a 54-year-old Richwoods man for allegedly illegally dumping tires in several locations around De Soto, police reported.
“We’ve been investigating him for the last four or five months,” Chief Jeff McCreary said. “We finally caught up with him.”
The suspect was arrested on March 13, he said.
McCreary said the man allegedly dumped tires twice in the 500 block of North Second Street, once in the 300 block of North 11th Street and once in the 900 block of Boyd Street. The man also allegedly dumped tires at the Auto Plaza dealership on Hwy. 21 man times, and police were able to track him there.
The man allegedly was being paid to take the tires and dispose of them properly, but was just dumping them instead, McCreary said.
“So, he is saving himself the money and dumping them wherever he can,” McCreary said
When police arrested the man for dumping, officers allegedly found him with a substance believed to be methamphetamine, McCreary said.
Depending on results from the drug analysis, De Soto Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for drug possession, dumping and first-degree trespassing, McCreary said.
